I'll admit that we arrived at Grotto and a throng of children were loudly giving a play-by-play analysis of someone playing with the claw machine, I was not exactly thrilled to be there. However, the service, food, and yes, the claw machine, ended up giving us a fun and filling evening. We started our meal with parmesan truffle fries and garlic bread. The fries were different in a sense that they were somewhere between a wedge and a scoop. I quite enjoyed them. The garlic bread was nothing special, but still good enough. We then split a large pizza. Despite the odd, swirly cheese design, there seemed to be ample cheese on the pizza to generate a cheese pull when serving the slices. We had enough pizza to take home leftovers as well, which was a pleasant surprise at 2 am. We had a small issue with our bill upon checking out, as the QR code gave us trouble and someone didn't pay, but the system didn't reveal which of us was the accidentally guilty party. The manager, Sonny, apologetically fixed the issue and was very grateful for our understanding. It was totally a non-issue, but his gratitude was a wonderful gesture and way to end our visit.
Recent Celiac diagnosis and I am so grateful Grottos has a Gluten Free Pizza! I've eaten it several times these past few months and every time my experience was consistently good and I haven't had any bad reaction to the pizza. Bonus is that it tastes really good and holds together. Thank you for allowing me to continue to enjoy one of my favorite pizza places!
Always look for a spot that has a golden tee machine when I travel. I ended up at this place for a few rounds and some food. Food was great, the machine was in good condition, and I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town.
On Feb.14, 2024, We called for a "large plain pizza"(takeout). It's been a long time since we ordered from Grotto because of a noticeable decline in taste, etc. This purchase was like the Grotto pizza of old, the original "Legendary flavor". Thank you (DP) for re-establishing the best pizza even, the way it was when you 1st opened in Rehoboth. I hope all the locations are onboard.. Also, on the 14th, it was 9:30 pm. but the staff were friendly and courteous!
Okay so since I am from Delaware, I love Grotto's pizza!! It's a Delawarean staple. I do agree that the Grotto's down by the beaches are much better but this grottos is still good!! I was sad that they were out of broccoli bites but had my usual cheese pizza and beach fries with cheese! They're fries are so amazing. They are a little crispy, salty and delicious. Will always go back here when I'm home!
Just passing through, this was the closest to where I was heading. Walked into the bar enterance at first, big place. Was just looking for slices, good thing they had some because the menu looked pretty pricey for even the smallest pizza. Pretty good tho.
This review is based on their delivery/takeout - I don't think I've ever dined in at this location (and can't speak to how they're handling dining in during the pandemic). Grottos food is no frills but it's consistent. You can't go wrong with their cheese pizza, chicken tenders, or subs. It's comfort food. And I've never ran into any issues with takeout or delivery, it's always fast and they've never messed up an order.
I got the cheesesteak. If you want to eat a cheesesteak while you are sitting at the bar watching a game on TV, go to Grotto Pizza on Concord pike. The cheesesteak without the bar and TV was still pretty good.
